Revisiting the year’s news, from new tech to new colleagues!
As we approach the end of 2022, join us in looking back on the positive events this year, from new products to scientific discoveries and welcoming eight new colleagues!

Returning to the Real World!
Events are returning to normal, and in total we’ve managed to attend nine different conferences this year. Nothing beats real-life interactions with our partners and customers, and reconnecting with the microscopy community across the globe has been fantastic!
We’ve also picked up our STEM activities once again, with careers fairs at local schools, TeenTech; a visit from Molly (whose PhD we sponsored); working closely with our local Secondary Schools – as well as work experience students Thais and Fin.
The biggest news this year has undoubtedly been the NEW four-wavelength pE-400 Series Illumination Systems – the standard pE-400 and highly controllable pE-400max.
Bridging the gap between the popular pE-300 Series and the high-end pE-800 Series and pE-4000, the pE-400 Series offers powerful illumination (especially in the GYR) and broad spectral coverage from 365-635 nm for DAPI through YFP to Cy5.
The reception has been fantastic from our virtual launch and introductions at SfN and ASCB, and our Production Team is gearing up to fulfil many orders. Remember, the pE-400 Series is available on a three-week lead time from 1st of February 2023. However, you can pre-order now.
Winner of our Image in an Image Competition 2022
This is the third year running our Image in an Image competition, and we received many weird and wonderful entries once again!
The winner this year was Dr Claire Dessalles (Aurelien Roux Lab, University of Geneva) who found a flame in C2C12 cells growing on an alginate microcapsule.
We look forward to sharing how she’s enjoying her new pE-300white next year!
The competition will be starting again in February 2023, so make sure to look out for your ‘Image in an Image’ for your chance to win – find out more at www.coolled.com/competition.
Hundreds of published research papers featuring CoolLED Illumination Systems
It’s always exciting to read about the research our microscopy illumination technology plays a part in, and we’ve enjoyed browsing the 197 ground-breaking papers available on PubMed Central.
We’ve also been lucky enough to hear from world-leading experts on topics such as understanding thrombosis using microfluidics, and a CRISPR-Cas9 screen for research into allergies.
We’re always interested in stories like these and offer a charity donation for contributions.
Welcoming eight new starters to the CoolLED team!
Our team has continued to grow this year, and we have been pleased to welcome so many new colleagues!
Please join us in welcoming Ben, Anna, Thomas, Steven, Jacob, Dean, Jasmine and Stephen who join us in departments right across the business – from Production to Engineering (and even here in Marketing).
We also have a couple more additions early next year…
