For the third year running, we once again enjoyed receiving many stunning entries for the annual Image in an Image competition,
where we look for what’s in an image, and not just the quality of the acquisition itself.
The prize is one of our most popular LED Illumination Systems – the simple yet controllable pE-300white for fluorescence microscopy
which offers intense, broad-spectrum LED illumination for imaging most common fluorophores from DAPI to Cy5.
The winning Image in an Image: Flame by Claire Dessalles
The image shows C2C12 cells growing on an alginate microcapsule, marked with phalloidin 488, imaged with a 20x objective on a Nikon Eclipse TI Confocal microscope.
About the winner
Dr Claire Dessalles is a Postdoc in the Roux Lab, University of Geneva (Switzerland), and is currently studying morphogenesis and topological defects (more information about her project is available here). She’s sure to put the pE-300white to good use, and shared a few words about winning the competition:
“Winning the CoolLED Image in an Image competition is an honor and a true pleasure.
Every day, I am baffled by the progress made in imaging technologies
and the insights into the inner workings of cells that they gift us with.
Additionally, I believe microscopy images are a powerful tool to reach the
younger generation, spark the interest of future scientists and light the flame of science!”
If you want to win a pE-300white, we are planning to run the competition again in the future: sign up to our newsletter so you don’t miss out!
