Macmillan Cancer Support: Making a Difference Through Coffee Mornings
Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the UK’s largest charities, providing essential care and guidance to individuals and families affected by cancer. Their work spans everything from offering financial advice to providing emotional and practical support, ensuring that no one has to face cancer alone.
Each year, Macmillan hosts the nationwide Coffee Morning event to raise funds, encouraging communities to come together, share a cuppa, and raise money for this vital cause. Since 1990, these wonderful coffee mornings have raised over £310million for Macmillan, and we’re very proud to have played a small part in helping.
Why It’s Important
With over 3 million people living with cancer in the UK, the services Macmillan provides have never been more crucial. The funds raised during events like the Coffee Morning go directly towards supporting people during their treatment and recovery, whether through Macmillan’s nurse specialists, helplines, or community programs. These services are often a lifeline for families navigating the complex and emotional journey of cancer treatment.

CoolLED’s 2024 Coffee Morning: A Collective Effort
At CoolLED, we’re always looking for ways to give back to our community, and this year’s Macmillan Coffee Morning gave us the perfect opportunity to do just that. Colleagues, friends, and even some ex-employees came together at our headquarters in Andover to enjoy a morning filled with homemade cakes, biscuits, and, of course, plenty of coffee. It was fantastic to see so many people contribute – whether by baking, brewing, or simply sharing a friendly conversation. The kitchen became a veritable battleground of Tupperware, crammed with everything from the humble flapjack to show-stopping cupcakes that wouldn’t have been out of place in a Parisian patisserie. The sheer volume of home-baked goods was awe-inspiring, though there were whispers about a few shop-bought impostors… (we won’t name names).
The turnout was brilliant, with everyone keen to support a worthy cause and was a day that blended fun and fundraising seamlessly, with all donations going straight to Macmillan’s life-changing services.
We’re proud to hold these coffee mornings each year, and will always continue trying to highlight how small gestures like baking and sharing a coffee can have a profound impact on people’s lives.
