NEW WHITE-LIGHT FLUORESCENT SOURCE FROM CoolLED
From the company that brought LEDs to fluorescence microscopy, CoolLED’s latest product, the new pE-300-White, brings even greater intensity and simplicity to microscope illumination. This light-source provides a broad-spectrum “White” which excites the fluorophores used in most common fluorescent applications from DAPI (Blue emission) to Cy5 (Red emission). The pE-300-White has been designed to provide clean bright illumination with all the benefits of LEDs, including reduced power consumption and extremely long lifetime.
The pE-300-White is simple to fit and simple to use as it is supplied with an appropriate microscope adaptor which is specified at time of order. The user simply removes his existing light-source and attaches the pE-300-White to the same microscope fitting. The unit is then immediately ready for use. The pE-300-White can be used in the same way as the conventional mercury and metal-halide lamps which it replaces. No warm-up or cool-down time – simply LED illumination ready when you need it.
An intuitive remote control pod gives the user control over intensity and instant On/Off. The Power-down feature ensures that power consumption is kept to an absolute minimum. External triggering by TTL (BNC connection) allows microsecond switching without the need of a shutter. As a solid-state product, there is no bulb alignment or replacement required. The pE-300-White does not include any hazardous materials such as mercury so there are no handling or disposal issues to address. CoolLED’s range of collimating adapters fit most new and older models of fluorescence microscope, creating a homogeneous and full illumination over the field of view. Adaptors for fibers and other light guides can also be fitted if the light-source needs to be kept remote from the microscope.
The pE-300-White will prove to be ideal in the hospital environment and for simpler research applications. Screening, tissue culture, confocal pre-alignment and FISH are all applications where the performance of the unit matches the user’s needs. Where even greater control is required, the pE-4000 Universal fluorescence system has an even wider spectral band combined with levels of functionality required for high-end research.
The system is compact, quiet and environmentally friendly.
