Building on a strong foundation
EcoVadis is a globally recognised sustainability ratings provider, assessing companies across four key areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
The assessment gives an independent view of how well a company is managing its sustainability commitments, including the policies, actions and evidence in place to support them.
For CoolLED, this process has been a valuable way to benchmark our progress, identify areas where we can improve and make sure sustainability stays embedded in the way we operate.
Our Silver Medal is therefore much more than a new badge. It’s a clear improvement in our sustainability performance and shows that we’re continuing to move in the right direction.
Continuous improvement, not complacency
At CoolLED, sustainability has long been closely linked to what we do.
Our LED illumination systems are designed to provide a modern alternative to traditional mercury and metal halide lamp-based illumination, helping microscopy users reduce energy consumption, remove hazardous bulbs from their laboratories and benefit from longer product lifetimes.
However, our sustainability responsibilities don’t stop with the products we manufacture.
We’re also continuing to look at how we operate as a business, from internal processes and supply chain considerations to documentation, reporting, waste reduction and energy efficiency.
Receiving Bronze helped confirm that we had a solid foundation in place. Achieving Silver shows that we’ve built on that foundation, and that the actions taken since our previous assessment have had a positive impact.
It’s a moment worth celebrating, but it’s also a reminder that there’s still more to do.
