Geraint Wilde began his career in academia, completing a Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of Southampton in 1997, where he investigated damage and repair mechanisms in stroke and, importantly, began working with microscopes.
This interest continued through postdoctoral research at the University of Warwick and later at the University of Liverpool, where he worked in a laboratory focused on cutting-edge microscopy techniques.
With a growing passion for microscopy, Geraint moved into the commercial side of the industry, first as a Sales Application Specialist with Leica, gaining exposure to a wide range of life science microscopy technologies and applications. In 2009, he joined Andor Technology as a Confocal Sales Specialist and went on to spend more than 15 years there, moving into Product Management roles and finishing as Senior Product Manager for Microscopy and Life Science Cameras. During this time, he introduced two award-winning confocal solutions to the market, Dragonfly and the BC43 benchtop confocal.
Outside of work, Geraint keeps busy with Welsh folk dancing, gardening, hiking and baking bread, and still finds time to enjoy a good book when he wants to unwind.
