Welcoming Andrew Whimster to CoolLED
We’re delighted to announce that Andrew has joined CoolLED, and we couldn’t be more excited.
With an impressive background in physics and extensive experience in optical design, Andrew is set to bring a fresh perspective and a wealth of expertise to our team.
Meet Andrew
Andrew earned his BA in Physics from Hull and started his career in semiconductor fabrication before moving to Germany to study quantum optics. Since then, he has built a career in optical design, gaining a wealth of skills that will be a great asset to our team.
At CoolLED we work on innovative LED illumination systems for a range of applications including life sciences, industrial inspection, and materials science. Andrew’s experience in optical design fits right in with our goal of developing reliable, high-performance light sources. His hands-on background in the semiconductor and quantum optics fields means he brings a practical understanding of how light interacts with matter, a perspective that will definitely help us continue to improve our products.
Outside of work, Andrew enjoys a range of activities that keep him balanced and inspired. He’s an enthusiastic mountaineer who loves exploring the great outdoors, a keen fan of live music, and a dedicated curry connoisseur. Whether he’s scaling a challenging peak or sampling the best local Indian cuisines, he seems to enjoy blending curiosity with a practical approach – which should be useful in our R&D department!
