We were thrilled to participate in the recent Get Inspired event held in Basingstoke, where we had the opportunity to engage with bright young minds eager to explore the realms of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The event, tailored for students intrigued by STEM subjects and aspiring towards related careers, provided a dynamic platform for us to showcase the intricacies of LED microscope lighting and its significance in various scientific disciplines.
Throughout the event, we engaged with enthusiastic attendees, sharing our experiences and expertise while highlighting the importance of STEM education in addressing real-world challenges.
By illustrating the practical applications of fluorescence microscopy in fields such as medicine, biology, and materials science, we aimed to ignite a spark of curiosity and inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.
Moreover, we emphasised the diverse career paths available within the STEM landscape, ranging from research and development to engineering and beyond.
By providing guidance on the educational trajectories and professional opportunities in these fields, we aimed to empower young individuals to pursue their passions with confidence and determination.
Giving the students the opportunity to look through our fluourescence microscope, or paint with UV light, it was amazing to see how many expressed a keen interest in pursuing further studies and careers in STEM disciplines, motivated by the possibilities presented at the event.
As the students put their artistic skills to the test, our team of experts explained the science behind fluorescence and the role it plays in various fields, from biomedical research to forensics – as well as the many other types of careers available within a STEM company.
The fluorescent magic then unfolded before their eyes as the paper was illuminated with a kaleidoscope of vibrant colours, each stroke of paint glowing brilliantly under the UV lights, transforming their once-invisible masterpieces into dazzling works of art.
Reflecting on our participation in the Get Inspired event, we are immensely proud to have played a role in nurturing the talents and aspirations of budding STEM enthusiasts. As advocates for innovation and education, we will always be committed to supporting initiatives that foster curiosity, creativity, and excellence in the world of science and technology.
Our involvement doesn’t end here – we’ve got more STEM events and careers fairs planned throughout the rest of 2024 and are always on the lookout for more opportunities to inspire. If you have an event in the Hampshire area that you think might be a good fit for CoolLED to attend, then please do get in touch!
Together, let’s continue to inspire and empower the next generation of STEM leaders.
CoolLED specialises in microscopy illumination and, since our team of four introduced the first commercially available LED microscope light source in 2006, we have led the way in designing and manufacturing cutting edge LED Illuminators for Microscopes using the latest technology.
