This summer saw all hands on deck for CoolLED, as the team raised money for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) service by getting involved in Dragon Boat Racing! Not a day to be missed, 13 teams raced to win the coveted Dragon Trophy, with CoolLED coming 8th.
Generous donations came flooding in before taking to the water, with a steady stream of further contributions following in the subsequent raffle and extra donations. CoolLED would like to thank everyone who so kindly donated raffle prizes this year!
Why HIOWAA?
The HIOWAA needs no introduction. A well-known charity, their Airbus H135 Helicopter is capable of reaching emergency incidents anywhere in Hampshire within 15 minutes, day and night. The on-board team are capable of providing care comparable to hospital emergency departments. Unsurprisingly, such a service comes at a cost: the HIOWAA relies heavily on public donations to remain active each year. CoolLED is proud to support such an honourable service.
The Grand Total
We’re delighted to announce that an incredible £1708.93 has been raised to date, with over £700 coming from the race alone! It just goes to show what the CoolLED team, alongside everyone else who donated, can achieve!
CoolLED’s Matt, Brynn, Lisa and Olivia visited Thruxton, the home of HIOWAA’s Air Base, where they presented a cheque to the HIOWAA team. HIOWAA were kind enough to provide them with a fascinating tour of the facility, alongside a meet and greet with some of the crew (pilots, fundraisers, paramedics and doctors). They were also lucky enough to see the helicopter itself!
