CoolLED’s pE-300 Series and pE-400 Series have once again achieved the My Green Lab® ACT® Ecolabel, this time under the new ACT Ecolabel 2.0 standard.
The ACT Ecolabel provides laboratories and procurement teams with independently audited information about the environmental impact of laboratory products. ACT stands for Accountability, Consistency and Transparency, with products assessed against a defined set of environmental criteria rather than relying on manufacturers’ own sustainability claims.
What is ACT Ecolabel 2.0?
ACT 2.0 introduces a science-based, weighted 100-point scoring system designed to give greater importance to the areas with the greatest environmental impact.
For laboratory equipment, the assessment considers areas including energy consumption, supported product lifetime, recycled and recyclable materials, circularity, manufacturing practices, greenhouse gas reporting and reduction, and product carbon footprint data.
More than a sustainability claim
The ACT Ecolabel is not a self-declared environmental badge. Sustainability information and claims submitted as part of the process are subject to independent third-party auditing against the ACT standard.
For CoolLED, achieving ACT certification again under the updated 2.0 framework provides external evidence behind the environmental work taking place across our products, manufacturing and wider business.
Environmental information is reviewed against a consistent third-party standard rather than relying solely on manufacturer claims.
ACT gives laboratories, facilities and procurement teams clearer environmental information when comparing laboratory equipment.
Another reason to choose CoolLED when moving away from mercury
The new certification is particularly relevant for laboratories and imaging facilities preparing for the move away from mercury and metal halide illumination.
As the February 2027 EU RoHS exemption end date approaches, facilities using mercury-containing replacement lamps are reviewing how and when to move to LED illumination. For those teams, sustainability is often part of the purchasing decision alongside illumination performance, reliability, compatibility and long-term support.
CoolLED has specialised in mercury-free LED illumination since 2006. ACT Ecolabel 2.0 certification for the pE-300 and pE-400 Series adds another independently assessed measure to those environmental credentials, giving facilities additional information when planning their transition.
