At CoolLED we have a strong background in academic collaborations, especially with our friends at the University of Strathclyde!
We’re excited to be working with Gail McConnell’s Group once again, and we recently welcomed Kay Polland to CoolLED HQ as she starts out on her PhD research project.
Kay is six months into her project, which will focus on the investigation and development of a high-resolution optical imaging technique to analyse tonsils.
The aim is that this novel endoscopy-based method will improve diagnosis and reduce the number of patients undergoing invasive tonsillectomies.
Her undergraduate degree and MSc in physics, together with her interest in real-world medical applications has set her up well for this challenging project,
which requires both physics and biology expertise.
This week, CoolLED’s Core Technology Team have been involving her in a variety of projects, training her on the use of ZMAX,
and getting the conversation started on how we can support her further down the line.
We can’t wait to get more involved!
CoolLED specialises in LED microscope lighting and, since our team of four introduced the first commercially available LED microscope light source in 2006, we have led the way in designing and manufacturing cutting edge LED Illuminators for Microscopes using the latest technology.
