Illuminating the Future
As a company deeply committed to nurturing young talent and promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, participating in local careers fairs is both a pleasure and an honour for us.
The event aimed to bridge the gap between young minds seeking career guidance and local businesses eager to showcase the exciting opportunities within our industry.
As a globally-recognised, industry-leading innovator in LED Illumination Systems, we took this opportunity to inspire and engage with the future generation of scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs by attending the John Hanson Careers Fair, held at The Lights theatre in Andover.
A Hub of Inspiration
Setting up our booth at the careers fair, we were greeted with a vibrant atmosphere buzzing with enthusiasm. Our team created an engaging and interactive space where students could learn about our company and the diverse range of career paths within the world of fluorescence microscopy.
We showcased some of our latest LED products and technologies, allowing students to experience firsthand the incredible advancements taking place in the industry.
Enlightening Conversation
One of the most rewarding aspects of attending the careers fair was the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with students and teachers.
We shared our personal experiences and career journeys, emphasising the importance of STEM education in today’s world.
We were pleased to see how intrigued students were by the possibilities within our industry and many were surprised to learn about the wide range of roles available; from research and development to engineering, marketing, business support and sales.
Some even expressed an interest in engaging in future work experience or even a fully fledged career at CoolLED!
Inspiring the Next Generation
At CoolLED, we are passionate about introducing LED microscope lighting and microscopy illumination to the next generation of innovators – and this event allowed us to do just that.
We encouraged students to dream big, follow their passions, and work hard to achieve their goals. We also provided information about how our colleagues entered the field of fluorescence microscopy; giving advice about the qualifications one might need; and how despite the company being rooted firmly in the ‘STEM’ sector, a wide range of skills are needed to fill the many and varied roles within the company.
From customer service and administration skills, immense focus and precision within our production team, relationship building and people skills needed in sales – to creativity, graphic and video design and communication skills needed in marketing… there’s something for everyone regardless of your background.
We hope that we piqued the interest of the students who attended and, who knows, maybe we’ll see a few of them in the corridors of CoolLED before long!
CoolLED specialises in LED microscope lighting and, since our team of four introduced the first commercially available LED microscope illuminator in 2006, we have led the way in designing and manufacturing cutting edge LED Illuminators for Microscopes using the latest technology.
