Based in Chiba, Givetechs helps customers select and integrate imaging technology around the requirements of their research, combining specialist product knowledge with local technical support.
The company supports applications including fluorescence microscopy, live-cell imaging, calcium imaging, optogenetics and image analysis, helping researchers develop both straightforward microscope upgrades and more complex customised systems.
A relationship spanning almost 20 years
Although Givetechs was founded in 2019, founder Y. Kubota’s relationship with CoolLED reaches back almost two decades.
Kubota-san began working with CoolLED around the time our first LED Illumination System was introduced. Since then, he has helped bring CoolLED technology to researchers across Japan and supported our wider mission to make high-performance LED illumination available around the world.
His career in bioimaging began with the introduction of MetaMorph software to the Japanese market. After leaving Molecular Devices, he founded Givetechs to continue supporting MetaMorph users and provide Japanese researchers with access to the latest optical and imaging technologies.
Over the years, Kubota-san has also visited CoolLED several times, building strong relationships with the team and gaining first-hand knowledge of our technology and approach. That long-standing connection gives Givetechs a particularly deep understanding of CoolLED’s products, values and commitment to supporting advanced scientific imaging.

Rather than simply supplying individual products, the team considers how illumination, cameras, filters, microscope control and software work together as part of a complete imaging system.
Taking CoolLED LED Illumination into space
Perhaps the most extraordinary example of Givetechs’ expertise can be found aboard the International Space Station.
In 2020, Givetechs helped integrate a CoolLED pE-300white LED Illumination System into the Confocal Space Microscopy, or COSMIC, platform developed for the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
The microscope was designed to support biological research in microgravity, including studies into cellular behaviour and the mechanisms associated with muscle and bone loss during extended periods in space. The project required compact, dependable and stable fluorescence illumination suitable for integration into a highly specialised imaging platform.
It remains one of the most unusual applications of a CoolLED Illumination System and a remarkable example of the technical knowledge Givetechs brings to complex projects.
