We’re pleased to announce a successful reduction in the environmental impact of our popular pE-300 Series Microscope Illumination Systems, which in turn helps labs reduce their environmental impact. But don’t just take our word for it – below you can see exactly how we measure up.
Independent certification with the ACT label
To help bring sustainability to fluorescence microscopy, we first registered the pE-300 Series for the My Green Lab ACT label in 2018. ACT stands for Accountability, Consistency and Transparency.
“The ACT label is like an eco-nutrition label for lab products, providing information about the environmental impact of manufacturing, using, and disposing of a product and its packaging.”
– My Green Lab
By understanding the environmental impact of equipment, this helps labs make sustainable purchasing choices. And by having a score, this helps us focus on ways to reduce our impact even further and become as sustainable as we can be. This year we’re excited to announce the reduction of our score from 47.2 to 38.2!
How did we improve?
The key improvements we made were:
Manufacturing has put various energy reduction measures in place over the past few years
Packaging materials include polyethylene bag made with 100% recycled material
It doesn’t stop there, and we’re already thinking up new ways to reduce our score even further for 2023. We’d love to hear if you have any ideas to share!
About the pE-300 Series
In addition to being the most environmentally friendly Illumination Systems available, the pE-300 Series is popular for many more reasons. The series includes the simple pE-300lite, classic pE-300white and highly controllable pE-300ultra which are ideal for everything from standard everyday fluorescence microscopy, optogenetics and high-speed imaging. The systems are also available as a Direct Fit model, which increases irradiance and reduces the cost to buy and run thanks to fewer consumables.
