Remembering those less fortunate than ourselves
During the festive holiday season, it’s easy to narrow your focus on your own needs, and those of your nearest and dearest. One can become caught up in the pageantry and superficiality of the season and can easily forget that there are millions across the world for whom the holiday season is anything but merry. In fact, it can amplify existing struggles and problems which is why the team at CoolLED rallied together to collect food donations and deliver them to those in need, demonstrating their commitment to making a positive impact beyond the realms of scientific innovation.
Organised in partnership with the Trussell Trust, a nationwide network of foodbanks working to combat hunger and poverty, the initiative aligns with CoolLED’s values of social responsibility and community engagement. The Trussell Trust operates over 1,200 foodbank centers across the UK, providing emergency food and support to people facing crisis situations.
The collaborative effort saw CoolLED employees come together to contribute non-perishable food items, essential groceries, and other necessities that would go a long way in helping local families and individuals experiencing financial difficulties. The act of collecting and donating these items not only addresses immediate needs but also fosters a sense of unity and compassion within the CoolLED community.
Once all of our donations had been collected, a team from CoolLED went to our local centre – The Andover Foodbank – to drop off all of the supplies. Chris, Justyna, Brent, Lisa and Jasmine all kindly volunteered their time and services to represent our company and we’re incredibly thankful for all of their efforts.
As you can see, we weren’t the only ones who had donated and the team were overwhelmed by the outpouring of generosity and love for the more vulnerable members of our society.
