Kit Malthouse, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for North West Hampshire, recently visited CoolLED’s offices at Westmarch Business Centre in Andover. The meeting was set up to introduce Mr. Malthouse to one of the area’s most innovative LED technology companies.
CoolLED Limited is a pioneering design and manufacturing company based in Andover, Hampshire UK. The company has specialised in high performance LED illumination systems for use in microscopy for Life Sciences applications. Our customer base is worldwide and includes many of the leading research facilities such as Harvard, MIT, Max Plank, Pasteur Institute etc. We export over 70% of our products.
Since our start in 2006 when CoolLED introduced LED illumination to fluorescence microscopy, LEDs have become the system of choice due to their safety, stability, duration and energy efficiency over more traditional mercury based illuminators. CoolLED moved to its own premises at Westmarch Business Centre in October 2011 and has continued to grow.
Kit Malthouse said “What a cracking business! It’s great to know that really cutting edge technology is being invented and built in Andover and then sent across the world. CoolLED is exactly the kind of company that we need more of in our town and I was delighted to hear they are hiring. We now need to make sure more of our young people have the skills to fill those jobs as the company and others like it grow and prosper.”
Jim Beacher, Sales and Marketing Director for CoolLED, commented at the meeting “CoolLED’s cutting edge LED fluorescence illumination systems allow us to fulfil the needs of researchers in Life Sciences across the world. The company operates within an innovative culture where novel and alternative ideas are encouraged from all staff. As our workload continues to expand we are recruiting new members to the team at Westmarch Business Centre”
