Gerard Whoriskey, Luther Hindley, Andrew Whimster, Sean Peng & Fraser Watt
The Core Technology team is responsible for inventing, developing and proving new technologies that can be used to enhance current and future CoolLED products. The team’s aim is to speed up ambitious new product development whilst reducing the high-risks associated with novel ideas, by quickly developing prototypes that conclude with confirmed performance enhancements. Strong links with academia and end-users help keep the focus on cutting-edge and high-value developments

Gerry Whoriskey – Technical Director
Gerry uses his wealth of experience to oversee our Core / R&D department; creating exciting new products, improving existing ones, or envisioning where LED technology will be headed in the future.
In his spare time, he’s a keen gardener and also enjoys playing chess while he relaxes with a well-earned, ice cold beer!

Luther Hindley – Mechanical Design Engineer
Luther works closely with our R&D department, designing all of the mechanics for holding our optics – as well as testing their capabilities.
Outside of work, he enjoys filming and editing videos, researching his family history, and attending theatrical performances and music festivals.

Andrew Whimster – R&D Engineer
With a hands-on background in the semiconductor and quantum optics field, Andrew brings invaluable knowledge and skills and a practical understanding of how light interacts with matter.
He’s also a keen mountaineer who loves exploring the great outdoors. As well as that, he’s a big music fan and a dedicated curry connoisseur.

Sean Peng – R&D Engineer
Sean brings more than 10 years’ experience in optics, spanning research, engineering and advanced illumination technologies.
In his spare time, he enjoys museums, architecture, hiking and football, and has even completed a marathon in Texas.

Fraser Watt – R&D Engineer
With a background in medical physics, optogenetics and applied optics, Fraser brings hands-on experience in designing light delivery systems and solving unusual technical problems.
Outside of work, Fraser enjoys keeping fit, going to the theatre, seeing live music and travelling.
