Last week was British Science Week, where we would ordinarily be out and about visiting local schools and getting involved in face-to-face STEM activities.
This year is a little different, but we still wanted to celebrate the theme of Smashing Stereotypes and celebrating diversity in the scientific careers out there. Not all scientific careers take place in a laboratory and we wanted to capture what some of our colleagues with scientific backgrounds enjoy about their careers – so we asked a few of them, and here are the answers:
What do you enjoy most about your career in science?
Dr Isy Goodhand, Technical Content Specialist

“I get to speak to world-leading experts and learn about all sorts of topics as diverse as optical engineering, neuroscience & lab sustainability”
Patrick De Guelle, Field Sales Manager – Western USA, South America & Canada

“I enjoy helping scientists use new technology to further their research. I encounter research that seems like science fiction, but is actually happening today!”
Danielle Love, Field Sales Manager – Asia & Oceania

“I love working with people from all over the world and seeing how the company I work for is changing the world for the better.”
Brad Reynolds, Field Sales Manager – Eastern USA

“After more than three decades of selling microscopes, there is always more to learn. There is a never-ending supply of applications where I can draw on my experience to provide functional solutions for the people in the lab. There is an endless supply of dots to connect the product, people, and ideas to move science and business forward.”
Jo Whetstone, Field Sales Manager – Europe, Middle East and Africa

“I enjoy being able to contribute in some way to science research which is helping improve the quality of people’s lives”
