About CoolLED
CoolLED is a British company specialising in the design and manufacture of LED illumination systems for scientific research, microscopy and industrial applications around the world.
We started in 2006 with a team of just four people and the world’s first commercially available LED illumination system for fluorescence microscopy. Two decades later, our technology is used on approximately 20,000 microscopes worldwide, and our expertise has expanded into new areas of scientific and industrial imaging.
Today, we’re a team of around 50 people working from our headquarters in Andover, Hampshire. Bringing research, engineering, product development, manufacturing and technical support together in one place means our teams can work closely throughout the entire process, from an initial idea to a finished illumination system.
We’re proud of how far the technology has come, but we’re equally proud of the people developing it. Our engineers, scientists and specialists work directly with researchers, microscope manufacturers and industrial partners around the world, helping solve technical challenges, develop new applications and provide the kind of straightforward, knowledgeable support that comes from dealing with the people who understand the technology firsthand.

Not every application can be served by an off-the-shelf illumination system. That’s where our dedicated OEM team comes in. Working directly with instrument manufacturers across the life sciences and industrial sectors, we develop configurable LED illumination solutions around individual requirements, from wavelengths and light delivery to control, integration and system design.
