Macmillan Cancer Support: Making a Difference Through Coffee Mornings
Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the UK’s largest charities, providing essential care and guidance to individuals and families affected by cancer. Their work spans everything from offering financial advice to providing emotional and practical support, ensuring that no one has to face cancer alone.
Each year, Macmillan hosts the nationwide Coffee Morning event to raise funds, encouraging communities to come together, share a cuppa, and raise money for this vital cause. Last year alone, the 2024 coffee morning raised over £17million!
Why It’s Important
More than 3 million people in the UK are currently living with cancer, and the support Macmillan offers has never been more vital. Money raised through Coffee Mornings helps fund everything from specialist nurses and advice lines to local community initiatives – practical and emotional support that many families depend on throughout treatment and beyond.
And it doesn’t stop with coffee and cake. There are countless other ways to raise funds for Macmillan – from sponsored runs, walks and cycle rides to creative challenges, endurance events, or simply hosting a quiz night with friends.

CoolLED Coffee Morning 2025: Cakes, Coffee and Community
Last week the CoolLED team once again joined thousands of others across the UK in raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support by hosting our annual Coffee Morning.
The office was filled with the smell of fresh baking (and the odd shop-bought emergency contribution), as colleagues and friends gathered to share everything from brownies and cupcakes to savoury bites. The spread didn’t last long, but every slice and every sip helped raise funds for Macmillan’s vital work supporting people affected by cancer.
It was a great chance to step away from the microscopes and monitors for a while, catch up with colleagues, and do something meaningful together.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who baked, donated and took part. Thanks to you, we were able to raise £450, all of which goes directly to Macmillan to help ensure nobody has to face cancer alone.
Until next year… the ovens may cool, but the support never does.
