10 Year Anniversary for Matt Hawthorne
It’s not every day we get to celebrate a 10-year anniversary at CoolLED, and it’s even rarer that the milestone belongs to someone who has witnessed (and survived) almost every stage of our evolution. Today, we’re delighted to shine a well-deserved spotlight on Matt Hawthorne, who marks a full decade of exceptional service, and trademark laid-back calm.
Matt joined CoolLED back when our production space was small enough that you could misplace a pE-100 behind a chair and not find it again until lunch. He was there from the beginning, helping to build those early pE-100 light sources with a mix of skill, patience, and the kind of practical mindset that makes engineers nod approvingly. From those foundations, he moved into our LAM assembly unit and played a key role in shaping the reliable, high-quality assembly processes we rely on today.
But Matt’s contribution didn’t stop there. If you’ve ever unboxed a pristine CoolLED light source, whether you’re in the UK, the US, India, or anywhere else in the world, there’s a very good chance that Matt personally made sure it was packed securely, correctly, and with the kind of care normally reserved for rare antiques or newborn penguins.
In fact, Matt has been the driving force behind ensuring that every single one of our light sources is carefully prepared, safely packaged, and shipped out on time. And considering how much demand has grown over the last decade, this is not a task for the faint-hearted. More products, more destinations, more deadlines, more logistics yet Matt manages it all with an organisation system so efficient it could probably run the country.
What’s made this even more impressive is that he does it calmly.
Of course, there’s more to Matt than his exceptional attention to detail. Around the building he’s known for his love of football, music, and good conversation. He’s the person who’s reliably chilled, always approachable, and generally the one who’ll make you feel better about whatever small crisis you’ve convinced yourself is happening. A decade of CoolLED simply wouldn’t have been the same without him.
So today, we want to say a massive thank you to Matt. Ten years of dedication, loyalty, problem-solving, patience, and legendary calm is no small feat and we’re incredibly grateful for everything he has brought, and continues to bring, to CoolLED.
