Reflecting on a dynamic year of growth, innovation and connection
As 2024 comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to look back at an exciting year at CoolLED.
From being part of groundbreaking research to community engagement and new team members, it’s been a fun journey.
Custom LED Illumination takes the spotlight
2024 has truly been the year of the CoolLED Amora Series for custom microscopy applications! We’ve partnered with some incredibly innovative organisations, playing a key role in cutting-edge automated imaging systems with applications from high throughput screening to semiconductor inspection.
And of course, a major highlight has been the OEM Network. Sourcing the best components for automated microscopy systems can be challenging and time-consuming, so we developed a handy one-stop directory of trusted suppliers for essential components like cameras, filters, and stages.
You can keep up to date with the latest news and insights from our OEM service by following our OEM blog, or signing up to our newsletter.
Getting Out & About
We’ve enjoyed getting out to major conferences like SfN and SLAS, staying ahead of trends in the rapidly evolving microscopy and photonics sectors – and of course, catching up with old friends and new. Closer to home, we continued our commitment to inspiring future scientists by supporting local STEM events.
A standout moment was participating in the John Hanson School careers fair, where we encouraged students to explore the exciting world of science and technology.
Driving Research and Discovery
This year, CoolLED Illumination Systems have contributed to the publication of more than 600 research papers! These studies spanned a wide array of applications, including neurodegenerative diseases, autoimmune screening, antimicrobial resistance, cardiovascular biology, and materials science. One special paper we’d like to mention is the first we’ve seen featuring our newest product – the pE-400max – looking at Advanced Biosensors for multi-colour imaging at the molecular level.
We’re proud that our technology contributed to groundbreaking discoveries offering crucial insights into health, disease mechanisms, and advanced materials. Many of these papers are open access and can be explored on PMC.

Looking ahead to 2025
As we look forward to 2025, our focus remains on pioneering optical technologies and strengthening our industry partnerships. Behind the scenes, we’ve also been ramping up for some exciting developments next year, so stay tuned for 2025!
