home I fluorescence microscopy I uv curing I distribution I company info I news I contact us The COOLLED 2600 UV Curing Pen, Patented, produces bursts of high intensity UV visible light capable of curing most light curing materials within seconds. The 2600 Pen is the first commercial UV LED cure system that really works and because of its patented safety system, it can be used without normal UV eye protection.
This low cost, light weight and safe to use product is currently causing all users of existing UV cure methods to rethink what is now possible. FEATURES
BENEFITS AND USES
The light source uses COOLLED's patented array of LED's mounted in reflective cups to create a high yet linear spread of UV irradiation.
The pen can be operated in two modes, and is controlled by an internal microprocessor 1. Fast 5 second burst
of full power The pen is initiated by a single push of a start button. Each burst of 5 secs is followed by a 15 sec lock out period with the start button disabled. Due to this patented feature, a life time of >10,000 hrs is guaranteed and the product has a CLASS 1M safety classification, thus ensuring the user is only exposed to safe levels of UV light. A Green/Red LED built into the pens body indicates the pens status and also which of its operation modes it is in (see data sheet). The COOLLED 2600 UV Curing pen is powered from a mains plug style power supply connected via a DC connector. There is also available an optional rechargeable battery pack for applications in remote locations such as telephone cable repairs etc.
TECHNICAL DATA
SAFETY COMPLIANCE TESTING Conventional UV mercury lamps produce a spectrum of radiation comprising of multiple peaks from short UV wavelengths through to visible IR wavelengths. Only a narrow band of energy is normally required for the photopolymerisation curing process and so most of the conventional UV lamp output is not required. With these conventional lamps, special care must be taken in shielding the light output due to the hazardous nature of their radiation. LED's produce a precise peak of light output at the required wavelength and are covered within the IEC/EN60825-1 standard. Being semiconductor devices driven by control electronics, products can be designed to ensure that they exactly meet the requirement of specific classifications by controlling the levels of radiation emitted. COOLLED has used the resources of an independent test house www.lasermet.com for safety testing. More detailed information on the standards and compliance testing can be found on their web site. The COOLLED 2600 UV Curing Pen, with its integrated timer, meets the requirement of a Class 1M LED product, meaning that it is safe to view with the naked eye, with or without normal eye correction spectacles and is only potentially hazardous if viewed through optical magnifiers.
