In order to assist fluorescence microscopists who are using, or will use, the precisExciteŽ high-power LED excitation source, CoolLED is compiling a database of Application Notes outlining the activities and success of the unit in relation to specific studies.

The following time-lapse movies should be viewed in conjunction with Application Note 1. They both show epithelial cells derived from the lining of the human airway.

Video 1 shows cells being adversely affected (note cell blebbing, cell round up and then stop moving) due to overexposure to mercury lamp emissions.

Video 2 shows similar cells with fluorescently stained nuclei showing no detrimental effects using the precisExciteŽ LED source.
