LED Intensity for pE-100
This information provides a guide to LED wavelength suitability. This is based on CoolLED's experience and measurement methods for comparisons. For an explanation of LED Intensity measurement, click here.
Independent tests have shown that the CoolLED 470nm LEDs through a standard GFP filter cube give 20% higher intensity at the sample compared with a 100W Hg bulb. We can state with confidence that this arrangement will give good results in the majority of applications. LEDs in the green and yellow regions are less intense and so for weak fluorophores their use may not be appropriate. However many fluorescence microscopy systems use cameras for imaging and this lower intensity can be balanced by increasing the integration times.
CoolLED has many hundreds of customers using their light sources in a wide variety of applications worldwide. From feedback from these customers we are able to judge the suitability of the technology in different applications.
Specific wavelengths are graded for use for applications using either a camera imaging system or visual screening using the table below.
