LAMs - LED Array Modules

CoolLED's pE-1 and pE-2 excitation systems use LAMs (LED Array Modules) to generate the LED wavelength of excitation.  These modular LAMs can be interchanged by the user so that different wavelengths can be excited depending on the application.

LAMs can carry either one or two separate LED wavelengths.  For most applications a double wavelength LAM is appropriate.  Where greatest intensity is required, a dedicated single wavelength LAM should be specified.  The total number of LED wavelengths which can be driven is dictated by the Main Unit - pE-1 for 3-wavelengths and pE-2 for 4 wavelengths.

The graph below shows current availability.

CoolLED's systems are able to recognise the different LAMs when they are fitted into the unit with the display automatically adjusting to reflect the set of LAMs installed.  Exchange of a LAM is simple and can be achieved in a few minutes.

Each LAM is guaranteed for a three year period but is expected to last indefinitely.  This makes for a great saving in running costs compared with lamp-based light sources.  New LED wavelengths are being added regularly.

To ensure optimum performance, LED wavelengths, optical filters and fluorophores need to be matched.  CoolLED can provide assistance when you are configuring your system.  Recommendations for Optical Filters from leading suppliers to match CoolLED's LED wavelengths are available.
