Peter G Pitrone
Microscopist/Microscope Developer at Max Planck Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics.
Peter's current project is to create the first open-access Selective Plane Illumination Microscope (SPIM). The goal is to make SPIM accessible to developmental biology labs without expensive instrumentation and allow scientists to be able to share their knowledge more effectively. Control of the system will be through the open-source acquisition software uManager. CoolLED's research illumination systems can be controlled by this and other popular imaging software packages. Conventional light sources continue to be replaced with LEDs due to increased performance and no hazardous mercury.
