No More Mercury!

"No More Mercury!" is part of CoolLED's campaign to educate laboratory personnel that there is a safer and better alternative to mercury-based microscope illumination (e.g. "HBO" and metal-halide").  Historically Mercury has been used as no alternatives were available.  Now that LEDs offer the wavelength range and intensities required for fluorescence, as well as many other benefits, there is no need to continue with Mercury in your laboratory.  You can learn more about the dangers of Mercury at the Health & Safety page.

CoolLED has created the characters below to present this message.  They are intended to bring some humour to this important issue as microscope users recognise that there is an LED alternative to mercury illumination which offers many additional benefits over their existing light sources.
