Optical Design

Using proprietary optical design software and experience gained from many years of designing opto-electronic products around LEDs, CoolLED can simulate the emissions from proposed arrays and optimise the light efficiency of the system with the use of optical lenses and reflectors.

Although the flux density of the light being emitted from LEDs can be very high at the surface of the bare die, the laws of optics dictate that light intensity reduces by an inverse square law so it is essential to capture and use as many of the rays (photons) as possible.
